Bye-bye 2016. — 3 Comments

  1. (resending because I don’t think you got it?)
    Cindie,
Thanks for this helpful view on the value of reflecting on a painful year. Your encouragement to accept pain as part of life and distinguishing it from suffering make sense. Every year brings difficulties and some are more intense at times but it is all in the flow of life. For me, detaching from constructs of time has been helpful to my efforts to live in the present, one day at a time. Practicing some of the suggestions you write about are helpful to those efforts as well.
A long time ago, I was talking about wanting it to be some time in the future (“I can’t wait for x!”) and my grandmother admonished me “Don’t wish your life away!” This makes more sense to me as time goes on. Painful, joyful, monotonous, changing, what we label bad or good – each year is a series of gifts over time that it is a privilege to experience. I welcome 2017 not because 2016 is over, but because it is what is next.
Wishing you and yours a joyful new year and much love. Erin

    • Thank you Erin for your thoughtful words, it has been a difficult year for many, and we grow so much when we recognize that our deepest wounds are directly connected to our life purpose. I love your Grandma’s words about not wishing your life away! And I agree, each year is a series of gifts! Sending you big love and wishes for a wonderful 2017! xoxo
